Nursery Planning

Since finding out we're having a baby boy I figured it was time to start planning on our little guy's nursery. He's due in a little less than four months so I feel like we'll have enough time, but I also feel like we need to get going. If we don't get everything done before the baby's here then it's not the end of the world.

I know for sure that I want to paint the room a light blue grey. Right now it's a horrible tan color as is the rest of the house, but that's another story for another post. I think we're going to look at paint swatches next week (fingers crossed) and get some samples to see which we like best. I don't really have a theme for this room, but I know I'd like to add some sort of baseball element because baby boy's daddy is a big San Francisco Giants fan and I know our little guy will be too. :) Other than that I'm planning on keeping the room quite simple.

I love love love the look of a gallery wall in a nursery. I'm leaning towards above the crib, but I'm trying to decide between that or having just his name written out somehow above his crib. Either way a gallery wall will be hung somewhere in his room.

So far I have are a white bookshelf, small writing desk (for when he's older) and a bassinet that will stay in our bedroom until he's ready for the crib. Here are some things we need to get:
  • Paint
  • Crib & bedding
  • Dresser
  • Toys & stuffed animals
  • Artwork
  • Baskets for toys & blankets

We have three bedrooms, one of which serves as an office, so the only place for guests to stay is in the baby's room. I think this IKEA day bed will be perfect since it can pull out into a full size bed. My only concern is I won't have any place to squeeze a rocker or a glider. The room itself it quite small and with a crib and a bed there's not too much room for much else. I have faith that I'll figure it out so if that's my only concern then I think I'm going to be just fine :)

I'm really looking forward to getting this room ready in the upcoming months. We've only been in our place since June so the nursery is going to be my first project here. I've decorated the living room, but we haven't painted or hung any artwork yet. I'm going to post updates on the nursery as progress goes on. I can't wait! :)
